The Academy Boys began the game on the front foot and dictated proceedings, but world class saves from Frank Boateng in Techiman City's post denied them early advantage in the game.

Coach Yussif Abubakar approached the game cautiously. His team sat back and soaked all the pressure from Liberty.

The pendulum however swung in favor of Techiman City late into the second half. Baba Mahama broke away from Ebo Mends in the middle of the park and sent Stephen Manu one-on-one with Samuel Sarfo. The former got the better of his marker and forced Fatau Alhassan into a powerful save.

At the other end, Frank Boateng pulled of world class save from Daniel Kodie's looping header, tipping the ball over the bar.

The resulting corner caused no problems for Techiman City as it was ballooned into the stands and match day referee blew his whistle for half time.

Liberty Professionals started the second half as they did in the first department of the game. Latif Blessing moved centrally to influence the game much better than he did early on, and the decision paid dividends.

His golden first touch from Samuel Sarfo's high ball fell the way of Tamimu Muntari. He interchanged passes with Antwi before delivering a needle point cross onto the forehead of Latif Blessing. He nodded home the only goal of the afternoon, beating the outstanding Frank Boateng.

Liberty Professionals could have doubled their advantage, but Tamimu and Gerald Arkson all missed silver platter opportunities to extend the scoreline as it ended 1-0.
