The Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, confirmed the arrest, explaining that credible reports received in recent weeks indicated the bursar had been siphoning portions of food provisions meant to support student welfare and nutrition.

She described the situation as disturbing, stating that the alleged act constitutes a serious breach of trust and public duty.

She stated,

These supplies are meant to ensure proper nourishment for our students. Misappropriating them is unacceptable

According to the Minister, following the complaints, the constituency’s National Security apparatus conducted a discreet investigation. While she was in the constituency on Tuesday, February 17, the alleged diversion was confirmed, and Lamisi Sarah was apprehended.

I directed the officers to hand her over to the Police so that due process can take its full course under the law

She added,

Investigations are ongoing.

This incident mirrors a similar case in the Volta Region, where the Ghana Education Service (GES) interdicted an assistant matron at Wovenu SHS in Tadzewu after allegations surfaced that she and two others misappropriated food supplies meant for students.

Preliminary inquiries uncovered irregularities in the school’s food distribution system, prompting a criminal probe by the Ghana Police Service. A committee has been tasked with investigating the matter and submitting a full report to the Volta Regional Directorate within one week.

Both cases highlight growing concerns about the mismanagement of school feeding programs and the need for stringent oversight to ensure students receive the nutrition they are entitled to.
