Italy hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini will miss the Six Nations clashes with France and England, with Davide Giazzon added to the squad.

Leonardo Ghiraldini will miss Italy's first two Six Nations matches as he steps up his recovery from injury, so Davide Giazzon has been called up as a replacement.

Vastly experienced hooker Ghiraldini has yet to make his return for Leicester Tigers after being troubled by a hamstring problem since November.

Italy coach Jacques Brunel will take no chances with Ghiraldini – who has 80 caps – until he has proved his fitness in competitive action for his club.

Benetton Treviso's Giazzon has been added to a 30-man squad for the Six Nations opener against France in Paris a week on Saturday and the home clash with England a week later.
