Ibrahim Mahama pays Gh¢12m GRA debt

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama presented two Stanbic Bank cheques from MBG Ltd and Holman Brothers, all belonging to former President John Mahama's brother.

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama is reported to have settled a Gh¢12 million debt owed the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

This follows a two-week ultimatum by the GRA to pay the debt or risk having his assets confiscated by the State.

According to starrfmonline.com he presented two Stanbic Bank cheques from MBG Ltd and Holman Brothers – all belonging to Mahama.

The cheques were issued on May 4, 2017.

MBG Ltd owes Gh¢10,216,258.47 Holman Brothers owes Gh¢2,176,544.61.

Meanwhile the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has denied knowledge of such development.

An anonymous official told starrfmonline.com that “We don’t have an information to that effect.”

EOCO has accused Ibrahim Mahama who is also the brother of former President John Mahama of issuing 44 post-dated cheques to the Customs Division, as duties for imports of equipment, but turned out to be dud cheques.

The cheques were issued in 2015

According to Assistant Commissioner for Communication of GRA, Robert Mensah, though his outfit had engaged the businessman since December 2016, he has been unresponsive.
