Abbey, a natural winger in the club’s two games against Kotoko (2016 President Cup) and Aduana Stars (Premier League) was used as a make shift left back and he was superb in those games.
“I think I will thank coach [Sergio Traguil] for playing me at left back,” Abbey told Accra Hearts of Oak.
"After our training, Sergio called me aside and said he wanted to use me at left back and he asked me whether I was physically [and mentally] ready [because I am just coming back from injury].

"I said 'yes' so from there I started conditioning my mind to play in that position. I had to go back to my early days [to draw inspiration to play there].
"I will thank coach Abu[bakr] Yusif, who when he was with us at the [Windy Professionals] Academy used to rotate us everywhere. So I had to go back and remember what I had to do in that position.
"I am coming from injury so I needed to be above 60% or 70% [to play there] but I thank God that at the end of the day, I was able to finish the game."
