The 35-year-old retired after the Australian Open, but will pair up with John Peers to take on Bryan brothers Bob and Mike at Kooyong on Saturday.

Hewitt, Australia's captain, came into the team after Nick Kyrgios' withdrawal due to a virus and back injury.

The tie is locked at 1-1 in Melbourne after John Isner and Bernard Tomic claimed wins on the opening day.

It means Sam Groth will be rested ahead of Sunday, when he is scheduled to take on Jack Sock.
