Hirscher, Holdener win FIS World Cup City Event
Marcel Hirscher took full advantage of an uncharacteristic lapse from Henrik Kristoffersen to win Tuesday's FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup City Event, while Wendy Holdener upset favourite Frida Hansdotter to triumph in the women's race.
Kristoffersen and Hirscher were tipped to meet in the men's final in Stockholm, with competitors racing in a parallel slalom format.
However, Norwegian Kristoffersen was knocked out in round one by compatriot Kjetil Jansrud after stumbling at the start and failing to claw back the deficit.
Hirscher had no such trouble and comfortably beat Jonathan Nordbotten, Julien Lizeroux and Stefano Gross to reach the showdown against home favourite Andre Myhrer.
The Austrian led by 0.26 seconds after the first run to set the tone as he became the first man to win two City Event races, stretching his lead in the overall standings over Kristoffersen in the process.
Gross rebounded from his semi-final defeat to take third place.
Frida Hansdotter was the overwhelming favourite to win in front of home support considering she entered the event with a 99-point lead over Veronika Velez-Zuzulova in the slalom standings.
It was little surprise that she made the final where she faced Holdener, who had beaten Lindsey Vonn in round one.
Hansdotter led after the first run, but Holdener stormed back in the second to clinch an unlikely victory.
Maria Pietilae-Holmner finished third after beating Nina Loseth in the small final.
