Hirscher seals giant slalom title in Kranjska Gora

The Austrian, who is seeking a fifth straight overall title, sealed his second consecutive giant slalom globe with a comfortable victory in Slovenia.

Having set the pace with a run of one minute 13.92 seconds on the first run, Hirscher was also quickest on his second attempt.

The 27-year-old stretched his winning margin to 0.53secs with a superb time of 58.66secs, ensuring the giant slalom title with his fourth win in the discipline this season.

Alexis PInturault, who had prevailed in the last four giant slalom races including Friday's event in Kranjska Gora, was left to settle for the second on this occasion.

Henrik Kristoffersen was third with Felix Neureuther and Thomas Fanara rounding off the top five.

Hirscher's triumph means he now has an unassailable 111-point advantage over Pinturault in the giant slalom rankings with one race remaining.

The slalom specialist can move closer to another overall globe in Sunday's slalom in Kranjska Gora. Hirscher is 333 points clear of Kristoffersen going into the race.
