Former President John Mahama has lashed out at US President Donald Trump for signing an executive order that suspended immigration from seven countries with Muslim-majority population.

Donald Trump provoked a fierce backlash at the weekend after signing an executive order banning people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from travelling to America.

Trump argued the ban seeks to prevent potential terrorists from making their way into the country.

But it has sparked protests across the US, and drawn condemnation from worldwide.

John Mahama in a Twitter post to congratulate Ambassador Kwesi Quartey as Vice Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission at the ongoing 28th AU Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopa, he said Donald Trump's 'ban is regrettable',calling on the AU to address the development.
