Police arrest nine suspected of bomb-making conspiracy

Hong Kong police arrested nine people in raids and seized suspected explosives, authorities said on Monday, just days ahead of a contentious vote on how the Asia financial centre chooses its next leader in 2017.

Hong Kong ("Fragrant Harbour"), officially known as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a city located on the southern coast of China at the Pearl River Estuary and the South China Sea. Hong Kong is well known for its expansive skyline, deep natural harbour and extreme population density (some seven million inhabitants over a land mass of 1,104 km (426 sq mi)). It has been named the freest market economy by the Heritage FoundationIndex of Economic Freedom.
