Hundreds of residents of Koforidua in the Eastern region have been rendered homeless following torrential rains that led to flooding in parts of the municipality last Saturday.

Residents of Koforidua in the Eastern Region must stop dumping refuse in the drains to avert future floods in the area.

This is according to the New Juaben Municipal Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Kwasi Opare.

Scores of residents in Koforidua have been rendered homeless after torrential rains that caused flooding in parts of the area on Saturday.

Areas affected include Parts of Alafia Zongo, Koforidua Magazine, Nsukwao, Efijuase Asokere, Abriwa Nkwanta junction, Koforidua highway and the entrance to the regional Fire Service office.

Even though NADMO visited the flood scenes to assess the situation, the organisation says it is yet to get relief items from its head office in Accra to help the victims.

Most victims are currently in the homes of family or friends.
