Three police killed in clash with militants at checkpoint

Three Tunisian police were killed during clashes with Islamist militants at a checkpoint in a central region, TAP state news agency reported on Monday.

One Islamist fighter was killed and another captured in the clash, TAP said.

Tunisian forces have stepped up their campaign against jihadist groups since gunmen killed a group of foreign tourists in an attack on the Bardo museum in the capital Tunis in March.
