Britain's oldest groom set to wed girlfriend of 27 years

George Kirby and Doreen Luckie, both from East Sussex, UK, met many years ago  in 1988 through a social group designed to help elders find and make friends.

They have been dating for twenty seven years, now, after seven combined children, and pressure from these kids, George finally popped the question on Valentine’s Day to Doreen.

Doreen accepted his proposal and the pair are getting married on June 13, just after Kirby’s 103rd birthday.

Concerning the proposal, George said, "i didn’t get down on one knee because I didn’t think I would have been able to get back up."

This just goes to show that patience really is key and that one never knows when love will come knocking.
