Indian Premier League: Virat Kohli on RCB defeat

Virat Kohli was barely cheered at all by his first Twenty20 century as it came in a losing effort from Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gujarat Lions chased down 180 with six wickets and three balls to spare in Rajkot to condemn RBC to defeat in the Indian Premier League on Sunday, rendering Kohli's stunning unbeaten 63-ball knock a footnote as far as the India batsman was concerned.

"It doesn't really feel good right now," he said. "I would have liked to cross the line on the right side of the result.

"Not at any stage was I thinking about a hundred. Personal performances are good, but not having a win is difficult."

Some wayward bowling ultimately proved costly, with Kane Richardson particularly guilty as his four overs went for 53 runs.

Though Kohli did not single anyone out, he did put the blame on his side's dubious work with the ball, which included three leg byes, nine wides and two no balls.

"Batting is not a concern," he added. "We are planning a lot of things [with the ball]. We want to pull our socks up.

"Even today, it was slow pitch, we shouldn't have given so many balls close to the batsman that he could hit. We should have kept it away from his reach."
