Jasna.giant slalom cancelled due to strong winds
The FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup women's giant slalom event scheduled for Saturday will now take place two dates later than scheduled due to strong winds in Jasna.
Organisers initially lowered the start to the reserve position and delayed the rain by an hour due to the weather in the Low Tatras mountains.
They then came to the decision that it would not be possible for the event to go ahead and rescheduled the race for Monday.
"Nature is stronger," FIS chief race director Atle Skaardal said. "It was extremely windy and we had no chance to have a decent race today. The cancellation was a pretty clear decision."
Skaardal said here is also a threat of Sunday's slalom race being put back by a day.
He added: "We still except some wind tomorrow,
"If for that reason the race cannot take place, then we will reschedule the slalom race for Monday instead of the GS. But this is something we can't predict. For now let's focus on the slalom and take it day by day."
