Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi will miss Nigeria's upcoming clash because of an injury.

Pulse Sports reported that the Torino FC after his Serie A side announced that he was nursing an injury.

“MRI he underwent Obi showed an overuse the semitendinosus muscle of the left thigh. Recovery times are currently estimated at approximately 5-7 days," Torino announced on their website.

Ahead of the game Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has confirmed the 24-year-old will not be a part of the crucial game in Tanzania.

”Joel Obi has been nursing an injury and to be honest there are not so many of his kind,"  Oliseh said during a media parley from Super Eagles camp in Abuja,

"He’s injury prone as we all know, but this absence here is due to injury had been down to that singular reason and nothing else.

"Credit to the man, I spoke with him last week, his club confirmed his injury. But assuredly, when he’s fit I will give him a call up,” Oliseh assured.

Joel Obi recently joined Torino in July 2015 from for a reported €2.4 million on a 4-year contract.

Joining Obi in the absentee list is Super Eagles captain and number one goalkeeperVincent Enyeama to attend to some pressing family issues.
