President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, for the 27th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government.

President Mahama in his capacity as Co-Chair of the UN Eminent Persons on SDGs is expected to host a special working session for colleague Heads of State on the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the African Union's Agenda 2063.

The financing of the African Union will also be under discussion.

The African Heads of States are also expected to launch the African Union Passport, which will ease free movement of people, spur economic growth and development as well as promote Intra-African trade.

The president is expected home on Monday, July 18, 2016.
