The West Indies Cricket Board has confirmed Johnson Charles as Darren Bravo's replacement for the World Twenty20 in India.

Bravo, one of the Windies' leading batsmen, withdrew from the tournament earlier this month, citing a desire to focus on the longer form of the game.

As a result, wicketkeeper-batsman Charles will be given the opportunity to add to his 23 caps in the shortest format.

Charles, who featured in the one-day international and T20 series against Sri Lanka in November, was a member of the squad that won the World T20 in 2012 and made 84 from the top of the order against England in that tournament.

West Indies will face England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and a qualifier in the Super 10 phase of this year's World T20. Their opening fixture against England takes place on March 16 in Mumbai.
