Man to spend 35 years in jail for rape, murder of 7-yr-old girl

A Nepalese court has sentenced a rapist and murderer to 35 years in prison for the brutal rape and murder of 7-year-old girl.

The girl had gone missing on February 20 near her home in the southern town of Kalaiya and was found unconscious the next day dumped on the road side.

She was taken to a hospital where she died, but not before giving the police a description of the man which led to his arrest.

Her death and the magnitude of the crime sparked serious protests in her hometown and now, justice has been served.
