Laurie Daley wants NSW Origin win for Paul Gallen
New South Wales coach Laurie Daley hopes his team can send captain Paul Gallen out a winner in State of Origin.
Gallen, 34, will play his 24th and final game for the Blues in the last clash of this year's series in Sydney on Wednesday.
Queensland have already wrapped up a 10th series win in 11 years, leaving the hosts looking to avoid a whitewash.
Daley wants the Blues to see Gallen out on a high at ANZ Stadium.
"He goes out there and leaves nothing in the tank," he told a news conference on Tuesday.
"He's been a true warrior through difficult times but he's aimed up every time he's pulled on a sky blue jersey which I think the boys appreciate.
"They know how much this game means to him personally and it'll be great for them to not only win for Gal but win for the state because it'll give everyone a great deal of optimism."
Daley is unfazed by the Blues potentially being swept for the first time since 2010.
The 46-year-old has taken plenty of positives out of the year despite his team's 6-4 and 26-16 losses.
"We have a lot of young guys who have been given their opportunities throughout the series so it's exciting times for them, and let's hope they show everyone what they're capable of doing," Daley said.
"For us, it's about going out there and playing some really good football – that's what we really want to do. We haven't played anywhere near our potential yet so that's the thing that excites me."
Jack Bird will start at five-eighth for the Blues, who are without Adam Reynolds due to a shoulder injury.
The Maroons have named Gavin Cooper for his debut as they look to seal a 3-0 series win.
