Leinster: Fergus McFadden banned for three weeks

Fergus McFadden will serve a second three-week suspension of the season after a dangerous tackle during Leinster's 30-23 victory over Edinburgh in the Pro12.

The Ireland international was cited for a high challenge on Damien Hoyland during last Friday's clash.

McFadden scored twice in the match but he will now be unavailable until May 22 after an independent Pro12 disciplinary committee found he had committed an act of foul play, by recklessly carrying out a high and dangerous tackle.

That ruling means Leinster will be without the 29-year-old for the remaining two matches of the season and a semi-final, but he would be back for a potential final on May 28.

Punishment for the offence would normally carry a two-week suspension, however an extra week was added to McFadden's ban due to his previous record.

The wing was banned for a similar length of time in January when he was punished for stamping or trampling on a Connacht player.
