LeSean McCoy escapes charges from bar fight

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy will not be charged for his alleged role in a nightclub altercation with two off-duty police officers, Philadelphia's district attorney announced on Monday.

DA Seth Williams said in a release that "there is not enough evidence to meet the legal threshold to issue charges" against McCoy or the others involved.

The alleged incident took place at the Recess Lounge in Philadelphia on February 7.

McCoy and three other individuals had been under investigation for allegedly assaulting two off-duty officers.

The skirmish, which police said came about as a result over a misunderstanding over who purchased a bottle of champagne, led one officer to be treated for a laceration to his right eye, a broken nose, broken ribs, and a sprained thumb.

The other officer received eight stitches over his left eye and received treatment for a possible skull fracture.

"While it is clear that a physical altercation took place, there is insufficient credible evidence to determine which of the participants was the initial aggressor or whether some participants were acting in self-defense or in the reasonable defense of another," the DA's office said in the release.

McCoy could still be subject to punishment by the NFL under its personal conduct policy.
