Former world number one Donald qualified for last month's U.S. Open through a six-man play-off but missed the cut at Oakmont.

Donald's best performance at The Open saw him finish tied-fifth in 2009 and 2012.

The Englishman missed the cut the last time the competition was held at Royal Troon in 2004.
