Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew has emerged as a target for Newcastle but the Magpies might have to wait until the summer to land him.
The Ghana international has been one of the few players to impress for struggling Villa this season after joining from Lorient last summer.
Ayew has hit five goals so far this season – including a stunner at St James’ Park in the 1-1 draw between the two sides in December – but will not be hanging around Villa Park if, or more likely when, Remi Garde’s side are relegated this season.
Newcastle are interested and reports say Ayew could be available for just £6million, although a deal would probably have to wait until the summer.
The Magpies could test the water with an offer this month as boss Steve McClaren looks for new talent, while Crystal Palace are also said to be keen on the 24-year-old.
