2019 was one heck of a year for Colombian pop singer Maluma, whose Instagram following dwarfs Harry Styles' and whose Youtube views step on the heels of Taylor Swift. The 25-year-old Grammy-nominated artist (his style is deeply inspired by reggaeton) has been recording music since 15. Hes collaborated with superstars like Ricky Martin, Jason Derulo, Daddy Ybankee, and now, on his new album <a href="https://music.apple.com/us/album/11-11/1461912465" id="adaa4ad3-1b5b-3910-add4-6b75ad0d820d"> ...

Mens Health caught up with Maluma (the moniker a combination of three family members' first names) in Miami, his glass-walled apartment overlooking the beach where the singer goes to tan, does yoga, and meditates under a giant metal Buddha. Malumba is living la vida tranquila.

Fitness goals? Being happy. If you have a right mentality and a right way of thinking, everything is gonna go right, says the singer, crosslegged on the beach. The artist originally wanted to be a professional soccer player, and he still has the calf scars from his years on the pitch. But life, he explains. (Maluma says he watches often, supporting Barcelona and Lionel Messi, because hes my friend. What a flex.)

Malumas demeanorsomewhere between stoned and suave, but in a good way, like a chill Bikram instructorought not distract you from his discipline.

Every day for breakfast, Maluma eats scrambled egg whites with chicken, onion, tomato, coffee on the side, double espresso, and green detox juice. Every morning. Im very tired of it, he says, laughing. But we get the sense the routine is more relaxing than bothersome. And mornings also include ten minutes of cycling, some body weightspushups, pull-upssome weight weights. A little bit of everything. Routines matter.

Recently, Malumas been doing an even more regimented challenge: working out two times a day and eating chicken eight times. He says he's tired of it. But if his Instagram is any indicator, wed say that Malumas monotony is giving him results.

When it comes to fitnessbeing happyfood remains the singers Eightfold Path. My whole body, my mind, everything, works better when I eat good. Its the gas that you put in your body. The gas you might find in Malumas fridge: water, sashimi, carrots, humus, broccoli, beer. You cant just eat that clean every single day. You need a beer.

After the scrambled egg whites and workout, Malumas mornings end here on the beach, stretching and meditating. I love meditating. I think thats a big part of my career. Just being focussed and concentrated. And being grateful. For me, thats the most important thing ever.
