Murrayfield at significantly reduced capacity for Pro12 tie

Murrayfield will be open to just 8,000 spectators when it hosts the Pro12 fixture between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh on Saturday.

The national stadium, which usually hosts Edinburgh's home matches, has been called upon due to Glasgow's Scotstoun pitch being flooded.

However, this weekend's fixture will still be classed as a Glasgow home game and the capacity of Murrayfield has been limited for safety reasons.

A statement from the Warriors read: "The need to move the match from Scotstoun to Murrayfield has created a number of logistical challenges.

"The large number of public, and sporting events, being held in Scotland over the New Year period has limited the availability of suitably qualified safety and first-aid staff available to support the revised fixture to a scale much beyond the original planned attendance at Scotstoun.

"Therefore, to ensure the game is managed within correct safety protocols, it has been necessary to limit the attendance at Murrayfield to 8,000 spectators.

"This ensures the requisite number of first-aiders and stewards are on hand to give fans a safe and enjoyable experience."
