President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that he didn’t inherit a rich father as speculated by many Ghanaians.
His inheritance here is referring to the state of the economy he inherited from former President John Dramani Mahama.
Akufo-Addo was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the water project in Wa in the Upper West Region.
He said there are other projects his government wants to implement “but a lot of them depend on the state of our public financing.”
“The truth of the matter is that I am not a lucky son,” he told the gathering of chiefs and people in Jambusi last Monday.
“I did not inherit a rich father. The inheritance I got from my predecessor was about an empty treasury so I happen to work my way from the bottom up.”
“But I know that with your support, I will find the money and we will do these things that need to be done,” he added.
However, President Akufo-Addo said despite the challenges, he would ensure that all his promises are fulfilled.
“There are better days ahead for all of us in Ghana,” he stressed.
