It's the eternal struggle of 21st century-life - people are gathered for a social gathering and no one is even paying any attention to the other because everyone is glued to their phones.

But Antonio’s Trattoria Calabria restaurant in Kuala Lumpurin Malaysia has decided to have none of that as they announced the ban of wi-fi in their premises in order to encourage people to eat and socialise.

The restaurant posted a sign in their restaurant saying:

“While you’re at Antonio’s, enjoy the simple pleasure of a good conversation.”

The restaurant also wants customers to, “Talk. Laugh. Eat. Enjoy,” to enjoy their meal and company in present time.

According to restaurant owner, Nameeta Rajwani “Something was very wrong — the sight of a family or group of friends sitting down to a meal, with each person glued to his or her smartphone. Is that something we really wanted to encourage?”

Several other restaurants around the world also face similar challenges, and last July a New York restaurant blamed customers for slow service because they were too attached to their phones.
