A source close to the outgoing IGP confirmed to Pulse.com.gh that the Police Chief was at the presidency on Wednesday to finalize his departure from office.

The president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named COP Asante-Apeatu as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The appointment comes following John Kudalor leaving office as the IGP on Wednesday, January 25, 20017.
A source close to the outgoing IGP earlier confirmed to Pulse.com.gh that the Police Chief was at the presidency on Wednesday to finalize his leaving of office and to bid farewell to the president.
“Yes IGP [John Kudalor] is leaving today and President will name the New IGP by close of today,” the source told Pulse.com.gh.

Mr. Kudalor, 61-year-old is retiring from the Police Service having served for 2 years as the IGP.

John Kudalor was sworn into office by former president John Dramani Mahama as substantive Inspector of Police.
John Kudalor replaced Mohammed Alhassan.
