His contenders, Kingsley Agyemang and Kwame Boateng pulled 48 and 76 votes respectively.

Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Atta Akyea has won the Abuakwa South primaries by 332 votes.

The NPP is electing parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections.

While some incumbents are retaining their seats, a number of them have lost.
