According to him, beyond the applause, his wins carry a weight that extends far beyond the stage, says his music is a deliberate act of cultural reclamation.

Obed Psych, born and raised in Bawku, a town in Ghana's Upper East Region long defined in headlines by its tensions rather than its talent, "This is more than music for me," Obed Psych told the media following his wins. "It's about showing the world the positive side of Kusaug, our culture, our language, and our strength."

Central to that mission is his growing embrace of Kusaal, the language of the Kusasi people of Bawku, which he has woven into his performances at international platforms.

He has taken the dialect to stages across North America and beyond, including the I-Land Festival in Victoria, the Harambeecouver Afro Folk Festival in Vancouver, and the Da Luv James Festival, introducing audiences abroad to a language rarely heard on international stages.

His dual wins in both vocal and rap categories not only underscore his remarkable versatility but also serve as a strong endorsement of his artistic growth, consistency, and ability to excel across multiple musical expressions. Having first emerged as part of the music group Preachers, his evolution into a solo act has been marked by bold genre-blending pairing hard-hitting rap with soulful vocal performances in a way that continues to distinguish him from his peers in the gospel hip-hop space.
