Media mogul, Oprah Winfrey shared a touching tribute to her late mother on Instagram. She wrote, “Thank you all for your kind words and condolences. It gives great our family great comfort knowing she lived a good life and is now at peace.”

According to a statement issued by the family, Vernita Lee died at her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 83 years.

Oprah Winfrey's mother, Vernita Lee was born in Mississipi in the year 1935. Vernita worked as a housekeeper her whole life and had Oprah at the age of 18, but never married Oprah’s father, Vernon Winfrey.

Conferring to reports, Vernita Lee has already been laid to rest a private burial.
