The Minority in Parliament has indicated that they cannot be blamed for the approval of John Oti Bless as a deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.

In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM the minority leader in parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu explained that the approval was about the majority number of votes which they couldn’t have won considering the number.

In a related development, a political strategist Dr Kobby Mensah said the approval was politically motivated since the general election is near.

Oti Bless’ ministerial appointment remained in the balance for the past three months after the Minority led the charge for the suspension of his approval following his alleged abusive remarks against the Judiciary, especially, the Chief Justice on an Accra-based radio station – Montie FM.

Parliament had put on hold the approval of his nomination in August after his vetting by the Appointments Committee.

On Thursday, August 5, 2016, Edward Doe Adjaho, Speaker of Parliament told the house that further discussion needed to be had on his nomination.

John Oti Bless later apologised for the remarks against the Chief Justice.
