How Accra looks after last night’s disaster

A heavy downpour in the capital city last evening put many lives in danger. Several homes in many parts of Accra were flooded whiles commuters were left stranded as most roads were almost impassable. The flood caused heavy vehicular traffic at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Spintex, Kaneshie and several other places. Most drivers parked their vehicles on the inner and outer pavements to prevent their vehicles from being carried away by the flood.

The rains which started around 4.30pm lasted till midnight.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service has confirmed that over 75 bodies have been retrieved from the debris of the GOIL filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra that caught fire during Wednesday’s torrential rains.
