Zinedine Zidane’s side became the first club to record successive triumphs in Europe’s flagship tournament in its current format.

A Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Real Madrid trashed Juventus 4-1 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to win the 2016/17 Champions League title – a trophy they won last season.

The Portuguese captain opened the scoring early in the first half, however, Madrid were quickly pegged back thanks to a wonderful overhead kick goal from Mario Manzukic.

The Old Ladies, though, could not hold on for long as second half goals from Casemiro, Marco Asensio and another Ronaldo strike dealt the Italian champions a second Champions League final loss in three years.

Los Blancos subsequently claimed their 12th title in the competition’s history, and continued with the celebrations back home in Spain.

The Galacticos returned to Madrid with the Champions League trophy, and paraded around the city before meeting up with some authorities and officials.

The team was met by a raucous crowd back home in Madrid, as they drove through the city.

Real Madrid has now won the Champions league thrice in the last four years.

The celebrations run deep into the night as some fans also converged at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to cheer their heroes on.

Zinedine Zidane's side will now face Manchester United for the Super Cup in August.
