Yemeni president flees to Saudi Arabia

Following President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi's fleeing from his country owing to rebel attacks, the Yemeni president has arrived the Saudi Arabia capital, Riyadh.

It is the first confirmation of his whereabouts since Wednesday, when he fled rebel forces in the city of Aden.

BBC reports that he will go to Egypt for an Arab league summit on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition has continued to launch air strikes against Shia Houthi rebels in Yemen, a step which Iran described as "dangerous".

Saudi Arabia began airstrikes against the rebels following President Hadi's appeal to the GCC for military assistance in fighting the Houthi rebels.

At the commencement of the strike, Saudi ambassador to the US, Adel al-Jubair said the move was "defending the  government" of Hadi.

The airstrikes have since claimed claimed about 13 lives, according to media reports, while 18 people were killed in clashes between rebel fighters and soldiers and militiamen loyal to Hadi in southern Yemen.
