Boosted by the return of Wales international Taulupe Faletau, the Dragons succumbed to a sixth defeat in a row, despite Hallam Amos scoring two tries.

Dorian Jones' missed conversion after the second of Amos' scores ultimately cost the hosts, with Edinburgh sneaking ahead thanks to an early Ben Kinghorn penalty, eight points from the boot of Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and Hamish Watson's try.

Seventh-placed Edinburgh are five points off the top four with four games to play.
