The traders are angry with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s pronouncement to move them to Adehyeman and Royal Markets.
The women’s demonstration is borne of a lack of trust in the Mayor of Kumasi, Osei Bonsu.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has promised to relocate them free of charge for the duration of the reconstruction exercise which seeks to ease congestion at the market and also beautify the area.
The reconstruction project of the market, which is the biggest in West Africa, is scheduled to begin in March this year by a Brazilian firm.
