Baba Jamal loses to hairdresser at Akwatia

Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations and Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia constituency in the Eastern region, Baba Jamal, has lost his parliamentary seat to Ama Sey in the Akwatia Constituency.

Madam Sey, a beautician, polled 21,433 votes to beat Mr Jamal's 15,905 votes, according to provisional results from the Akwatia constituency.
During campaigning, Baba Jamal had derided Madam Sey as a mere 'hair dresser' who posed no threat to him.

The Akwatia constituency has long been a very stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Baba Jamal wrestled the seat from then incumbent MP Dr. Kofi Adu Asare.
