Raonic feels better prepared for Federer at Wimbledon
Milos Raonic believes he is mentally and physically more prepared to face Roger Federer than he was the last time he faced the Swiss maestro in the Wimbledon semi-finals two years ago.
Big-serving Raonic enjoyed a superb run to the semis at SW19 in 2014, but fell short in a 6-4 6-4 6-4 defeat to the seven-time champion.
The Canadian ended Sam Querrey's fairytale run in the 2016 instalment to earn the chance to avenge that disappointment against Federer in the last four.
And Raonic is confident he is better equipped to cope with the pressure.
When asked if he feels closer to winning a slam compared the 2014, he replied: "Definitely mentally, physically. I think from every aspect, I've improved.
"I know what I need to do on court better. I know how to sort of turn things around to get them on my terms. I know what I'm looking for.
"I know how to go about it, to try to get to that position as much as I can. And then when things aren't going well, I know what things to look for to change. From all those kind of things, I'm definitely a lot more aware."
Raonic may be into a major semi-final for the second time in this career, but the 25-year-old insists he will not be satisfied by anything less than a slam victory.
"It's [reaching the semi-finals] not enough. I came here with a simple goal for this tournament [and that is to win]," he added. "I think everybody on my team has that same objective.
"I think that's why [coach] John [McEnroe] was willing to join, for that same goal. This is a process, and hopefully I can keep it going."
