Thompson pleased to make statement after loss

Klay Thompson believes the Golden State Warriors' win over the Houston Rockets on Thursday served as a statement following only their opponents' second loss of the season.

Minus MVP Stephen Curry because of a leg injury, the defending NBA champions Warriors were beaten 114-91 by the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Curry was on the sidelines again in Houston, while center Festus Ezeli, guard Leandro Barbosa and forward Harrison Barnes were also unavailable.

Despite those absentees, the Warriors bounced back to triumph 114-110 and are now 30-2.

Draymond Green recorded a league-leading fifth triple double of the season with 10 points, 16 assists and 11 rebounds.

Thompson led the Warriors with 38 points and said: "Last night [against Dallas] was embarrassing.

"We had every excuse in the world, but we didn't want to come away 0-2 [from this road trip].

"We figured out this would be a much bigger statement win if we responded like we did and won with playing 10 guys."
