Earlier this week it was confirmed that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had stripped Russia of the women's 4x100m relay title after it was found Yulia Chermoshanskaya's sample tested positive for anabolic steroids stanozolol and dehydrochlormethyltestosterone.

The 4x400m team have now also had their silver medals wiped from the records after Kapachinskaya was found to have used a prohibited substance, with her fifth place in the individual 400m also voided.

Alexander Pogorelov, who finished fourth in the decathlon, and Ivan Yushkov - 10th in the shot put - have also been retrospectively punished by the IOC for flouting doping rules.
