Ahmad Abughaush delivered Jordan's first ever Olympic medal – and it was gold.

The 20-year-old won the men's under 68kg, overcoming Russian Alexey Denisenko in the gold medal contest.

Abughaush said: "It's an indescribable feeling to win the first medal in the history of Jordan in all the sports.

"It's also a great feeling to listen to the national anthem of Jordan being played in Rio in front of the whole world."

"[Prince of Jordan] said congratulations," he added.

"He said he was very happy and he was telling me about how all of the people of Jordan are very happy and are even shedding tears of happiness for me."

MEDAL WATCH

USA took their tally of medals to 100 (35 gold, 33 silver and 32 bronze) at Rio 2016, as Jordan won their first ever. Great Britain are still second ahead of China.

COMING UP – Bolt looks to complete 'triple-triple'

Bolt and the Jamaica 4x100m relay team are looking for their third straight Games win as one of seven athletics golds up for grabs. The United States meet Spain in a men's basketball semi-final. Meanwhile, USA face Italy for gold in the women's water polo.

Every athlete celebrates a gold medal differently – just ask Japanese wrestler Risako Kawai.

Kawai took out the women's 63 kilogram with a win over Belarus' Maryia Mamashuk on Thursday.

Her celebration? As her coach seemingly approach for a hug, she threw him to the mat. Twice.
