2 dead, several others injured in Cape Coast accident

The incident, which occurred around 5 am on Thursday, involved an Ambulance travelling from Accra to Takoradi and another Sprinter bus from Takoradi also on its way to Accra.

An accident on the Cape Coast-Takoradi road this morning has killed two people and injured over twenty.

The victims are workers from the Cocoa Processing Company who were on their way to parliament to seek answers about issues surrounding the reopening of a cocoa factory.

Reports say the injured have been sent to the Effia Nkwanta hospital in Takoradi and the Interberton hospital in Cape Coast for treatment.

Police and the military were at the scene to ensure order.

Ealier this month, an accident at Nnoboamu near Konongo in the Ashanti region claimed about 17 lives.

The incident occurred when a fully loaded 207 splinter commercial bus numbered GY 2520-13 rammed into a stationary timber truck with registration number GT874 on July 1, 2016.

About three days after the Konongo crash, 13 others were confirmed dead in another accident involving a sprinter bus and an O.A bus.

The accident occurred at the Subinso-Branam (in the Brong Ahafo region) stretch of the Wenchi-Wa road.
