There was a new entry in the top 10 of the WTA rankings on Monday as Roberta Vinci climbed three places from her previous position of 13th.

The Italian, a career Grand Slam winner in women's doubles alongside Sara Errani, reached a career-high ranking, climbing above Carla Suarez Navarro, Lucie Safarova and Serena Williams.

Vinci lost to qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova in the lst 32 at the Dubai Tennis Championships last week, a disappointing result after defeating Belinda Bencic to lift the St Petersburg Ladies Trophy crown in the previous tournament.

Bencic, who was defeated at the same stage by Jelena Jankovic in Dubai, moved up to a new best of seventh.

The only other change in the top 10 saw Simona Halep drop one place from fourth after her last-16 loss to Ana Ivanovic in Dubai, allowing Agnieszka Radwanska to ascend to third.

On the ATP Tour, Kei Nishikori and Tomas Berdych each climbed a place to sixth and seventh respectively, while David Ferrer dropped to eighth.
