Ross Ford signs new Edinburgh contract

Scotland hooker Ross Ford has signed a new contract with Edinburgh until May 2019.

The 31-year-old has made 152 appearances for the Pro12 side since arriving at the capital club in 2007-08 season.

Ford, who featured for the British and Irish Lions during the tour of South Africa in 2009, is now set to remain with last year's European Challenge Cup runners-up for at least another three years.

He said: "Since Alan [Edinburgh coach Solomons] came in, I feel he's really done a lot of great work as we're in a really good place at the moment; last year’s Challenge Cup and our current league position [fifth] are examples of that, as we're still challenging for a top-four place.

"I respect Alan as a coach and think he's good for the team.

"We've got a lot of talented young boys coming through the system, and the club has a long-term plan which I feel is really starting to come to fruition."
