Amra Sadikovic gave the home fans something to cheer in the opening roundĀ of the Ladies Championship Gstaad with victory over Rebecca Peterson.

The Swiss - who lost to Serena Williams in the opening round at Wimbledon - battled through in three sets against her Swedish opponent, Sadikovic winning 6-2 3-6 6-3.

Fellow qualifier Mandy Minella also booked a place into round two after she came from a set down against Ons Jabeur to win 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4

Monday also saw victories for Irina Khromacheva, Anett Kontaveit and Evgeniya Rodina, while Claire Feuerstein emphatically won the third set 6-0 to beat Silvia Soler-Espinosa.
