Samuels wicket crucial for Australia in final – Smith

Samuels is the leading run-scorer in the tri-series with 252 at an average of 42, including scores of 125 and 92 against Australia.

Smith talked up the importance of his side removing the right-hander quickly in the final at Bridgetown on Sunday.

"He's done pretty well so we've talked about a few things with him," he told a news conference.

"He's got the capabilities as well to be dangerous as we've seen so hopefully we'll be able to get him out early. Hopefully we can just let our actions do the talking.

"He's been in pretty good nick this series, particularly against us, scoring a 90 and 100, so we're going to have to get him out early to have some success."

Smith said Adam Zampa was likely to be included for Australia on what is set to be a turning wicket.

Another spinner, Sunil Narine, has been impressive throughout the one-day international tournament, but Smith feels his team are ready to combat the 28-year-old.

"I think in the last two games we've played Sunil particularly well. I think we've taken him for over 40 and I don't think he's got a wicket either," he said.

"If you do that, he's probably one of their biggest wicket-takers, so if you negate him from taking wickets, I think you go a long way to posting a good total.

"There's no doubt he's a dangerous bowler and he's got some great skills, so hopefully we can play him well and post a big total with the bat."
