Rising star Matt Fitzpatrick has been tipped by Sergio Garcia to make his Ryder Cup debut this year.

Fitzpatrick enjoyed a breakthrough season on the European Tour in 2015, claiming 10 top-10 finishes, including victory at the British Masters, and was part of the side that triumphed in the EurAsia Cup earlier this month.

This year's Ryder Cup will be held at Hazeltine in Minnesota from September 30 to October 2, with Europe looking for a fourth consecutive victory.

Garcia, a seven-time member of Europe's Ryder Cup team, believes there could be several changes to the make-up of the side this year, including the selection of the 21-year-old Fitzpatrick.

"He obviously has a good chance of making the team," said Garcia. "He's been playing very well, and he's got a lot of potential.

"He looks like the kind of player that could definitely make the team, the odds are definitely looking good.

"I would probably expect to see at least four or five new faces. That's the way it looks at the moment.

"You never know as the year goes by. But at the moment it looks like there's probably at least between three and five young guys that could be on that team in September."
