Dr Tweneboah and six suspects were paraded at the Police Headquarters with their equipment.
According to the police, Dr. Tweneboah has confessed to committing the crime and owning the devices used in the illegal activities.He was arrested in an anti-fraud collaboration between the National Communications Authority (NCA), telecommunication service providers in Ghana and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
About 21,232 SIM cards were recovered in the operation.The Director General of the CID, DCOP Prosper Ablorh said about GH¢100 million has gone down the drain due to such illegal activities.“This is one of the biggest and most successful operations by the taskforce,” the CID boss told the media. “We want to serve notice to the fraudsters that their days are numbered.”
